The San Bernardino County Purchasing Department’s (County) has updated policy 11-04 to include a standard practice five (SP5), Procurement of goods supplies, equipment, and supplies for furniture. The new policy 11-04 SP5 provides guidance to all county departments providing definitions and procedures on how and what can be procured. All departments shall consider the maximum cost savings of public funds when procuring furniture. To ensure that proper consideration is taken for furniture purchases, departments must request quotes from a minimum of three of the contracted furniture vendors. Vendors should all attend the same scheduled job walk for a project to ensure fairness. Upon completion, the report will be submitted to the County Administrative Office no later than the scheduled date. Departments found in violation this procedure may have their procurements cancelled and/ or face disciplinary action.
