The Manger Commit to Be Fit Challenge is a program under the Santa Fe County Cares Wellness Program. It was implemented on June 16, 2014 and concluded on August 22, 2014. The program challenged employee teams comprised of four to six participants for ten weeks in three wellness areas. These areas are exercise, eating right and community service. Each week teams logged exercise activity, nutrition and bonus points. The measurable goals were to see an increase in the exercise time, increased healthy eating habits and completed community service hours. The County recognized that it is often very difficult for employees to balance their own health needs against their work day, family responsibilities and other outside obligations. The County realized that challenges like the Manager Commit to be Fit Challenge would help to create a culture of healthy lifestyles in the workplace and provide employees the comfort of practicing healthy habits at work. The challenge was also intended to support employees to contribute to their own health, the health of their families and the community. Finally, the County implemented the challenge to increase job satisfaction and employee morale.
