Just because the daylight hours get shorter, doesn't mean drivers stop delivering. During reduced daylight hours, Amazon is encouraging customers to help drivers when they are delivering packages in the dark through simple acts like switching on a porch light. Customers can help create a better delivery experience by making sure walkways and pathways are well-lit, securing pets, removing potential trip hazards from the delivery driver's path and making sure the delivery location is easily accessible.
Throughout winter and beyond, Delivery Service Partners (DSP) and their employees are critical contributors to Amazon's delivery network. In 2018, Amazon launched the DSP program to empower hands-on entrepreneurs to build and scale their own business with Amazon. Small business owners know their communities best, and we believe it is important that they build teams and a driver network within their communities. This has led to both employment opportunities and excellent service for local customers. These independent businesses hire and manage their own employees, including drivers, and deliver millions of Amazon packages every day to communities across the world.
DSPs and their drivers are proud of the areas they serve and operate, and they take their roles in promoting community safety seriously. DSP Ray Jackson from Over-Deliver, LLC in Mahoning County, Ohio serves both suburban and rural areas. Ray actively instructs his drivers, "to be seen and visible with safety vests, flashers and announce yourself when approaching a property, especially if you are in an unmarked vehicle." Similarly, DSP David Leis owns Avantt Logistics, operating a new station in McCraken County, Kentucky, after careers in the Army and consulting industry. With Amazon's new presence in the area, David reminds his drivers that they are "neighbors helping neighbors" and encourages them to alert customers to their arrival using the 'chat' functionality within the delivery app.
Please help us support community safety and deliveries in the dark by sharing our Public Service Announcement and using the #LightAPath hashtag on social media. Together, we can #LightAPath and keep our communities safe for drivers and customers alike.
