Biggest challenge: Working with the confines of state law pertaining to unfunded mandates and lack of control over elected department head officials who are not subject to any requirements, regulations or policy.
Motivation for signing up for HPLA: To create a comprehensive baseline leadership platform for county leadership (the first in our history).
Favorite part of HPLA: Development of leadership oath and collaborative exercises with other county officials across the country.
My oath or motto: That it is my duty and privilege to create, foster and maintain a positive team environment (through personal and thoughtful contact) in which our members can personally excel in achieving the identified mission of our organization. I believe this is accomplished through the art and discipline of understanding and applying human personality chemistry with the climate of the working environment. The backdrop of this service lies in the mindset of a mission, when accomplished, gives a sense of joy and accomplishment.
In my spare time: Working through comprehensive avenues to learn and apply retirement planning basics to employees lives.
I’m most looking forward to: Acclimate to a post-COVID world of creative community services and interaction.
