Key Takeaways

Bike Hero
Kathy Ackerman
Clerk of the District Court, ex officio Auditor/Recorder

High Performance Leadership Academy graduate

County: Idaho County, Idaho

Number of years in role: 34 (24 as an employee, 10 as an Elected Official)

Don’t miss this in my county: Grangeville Border Days-a 3 day celebration over the 4th of July

Most influential person in my career: It’s been a few years since I was in 4th grade, but my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Kissinger, encouraged my rudimentary leadership skills by putting me ‘in charge’ of several classroom projects. Also, she was an International President for Toastmistresses International. I’m from a REALLY small town, so the fact that she could make a difference not only in our town, but in the WORLD, through her leadership has always been a great inspiration and motivation for me.

Biggest challenge: We are a large rural county with a small tax base, as we are 85 percent public lands.

Motivation for signing up for HPLA: I am always looking for ways to better myself.

Favorite part of HPLA: Dynamic video presentations. I also really enjoyed Gen. Colin Powell.

Favorite leadership rule: There are so many it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I guess, “Being prepared is an entry level requirement for all leaders.”

My oath or motto: Reasonable minds can differ or “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.”

In my spare time: Enjoy writing and spending time with family.

I’m most looking forward to: I am our State Association President. I am looking forward to opportunities to represent Idaho on a national platform.
