Washington, DC – Today, the National Association of Counties (NACo), National League of Cities (NLC) and United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) combined voices to advocate for and promote the health and well-being of America’s cities, towns, villages and counties.
On Saturday, the three organizations made it clear that direct, flexible relief to local governments of all sizes is desperately needed as local governments continue to fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We urge Congress to unite, putting aside partisan differences and on Monday pass dedicated and flexible funding for all local governments. We are working at the county and municipal level as partners to provide unique and non-duplicative services to protect public health and economic stability, despite significant losses of revenue as a result of public health measures requiring a pause on most economic activity. The COVID-19 interim supplemental offered by Democratic leadership is the best and only offer on the table for state and local governments right now. We simply can’t wait any longer.”
