Biography
Zachary Lewis is a Management Analyst with Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Housed in the Department of Social Services, he provides support and direction to priority county initiatives. Currently, he is helping oversee the county’s Early Childhood Initiatives, which involves a significant amount of enterprise level and community coordination to grow the early childhood supports Mecklenburg County offers. He began his tenure in Mecklenburg County by overseeing and providing strategic direction to the Coordinating Snap & Nutrition Services (CSNS) grant project 1.0 through a partnership with Share our Strength and the American Public Human Services Association, where he developed and implemented the “Food Navigator” framework. In these roles, Zach’s work has won several awards, including the Innovation During the Pandemic award from the National Association of Counties, as well as the Collaborating Star award from the American Public Human Services Association. Before joining Mecklenburg County, Zach worked in a variety of roles for the State of North Carolina, including as a Management & Budget Analyst in the Governor’s Office of State Budget and Management where he oversaw the budget development of over $2 billion in state funding across 13 agencies. Zach holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Wingate University.
