About Rick
Rick is NACo's director of intergovernmental affairs and partner engagement. In this role, he works alongside the executive leadership team to spearhead the organization’s engagement efforts with member counties and represents NACo’s interests in building and bolstering relationships with intergovernmental affairs organizations, the private sector, and external stakeholders more broadly.
Before joining NACo, Rick served as Advisor to the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, where he led as the White House liaison to America’s 3,069 counties and helped shape the White House’s strategic vision in its outreach to the nation’s cities. Prior to that, he was Special Assistant to the Senior Advisor to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Tom Perez, and served as Special Assistant to the Director of Presidential Personnel, Gautam Raghavan. Additionally, Rick was previously a legislative staffer for U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, where he covered the education, labor, and Social Security portfolios.
Rick is a summa cum laude graduate of Morehouse College, where he double majored in Political Science and Sociology. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Rick currently resides in the Union Market District of Washington, D.C., with his dog, Stella.
