Paul Nerland

Paul Nerland started his career at the County of Fresno in 1997 as a Personnel Analyst and then served in various management roles in the Human Resources department for thirteen years before becoming the Director of Human Resources in August 2015. In January 2021, Mr. Nerland became the Chief Operating Officer in the County Administrative Office, working directly with the CAO, all Department Heads and the Board of Supervisors.

Born and raised Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He attended and graduated from California State University, Fresno, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Organizational Development. He is happily married to his wife, Londa, with whom he has five children ranging from 12 to 23 years old. In his spare time, he loves to hike and explore the mountains and forests of Fresno County.
