Melodie Vega

Melodie Vega is the Chief Early Education Officer for Keiki O Ka Aina Family Learning Centers. She has been in early childhood education for almost 50 years- from Nursery School Teacher, to Director of a preschool, to Traveling Preschool Teacher, to Trainer and self-employed contractor, to working in the first Executive Office on Early Learning, to managing a workforce development project, and finally to overseeing six unique early childhood programs for a Native Hawaiian nonprofit organization. It is Melodie's hope that through being a Department of Labor and Industrial Relations employer and sponsor, we will witness the ECE workforce in Hawai'i increase to the demand and every keiki attending an early childhood program has a qualified and competent early childhood educator. Melodie has undergraduate degrees in child and family science and organizational management, as well as a graduate degree in education (with an emphasis on curriculum development).
