About John Proffitt
John Proffitt serves as Chief Digital Officer for Franklin County Data Center (FCDC), the IT services agency for Franklin County, Ohio. He's led and developed technology projects, teams, and services for more than 25 years in education, digital banking, IT consulting, construction, and federal contracting. Over the past decade he has focused exclusively on purpose-driven organizations in healthcare, public media, and local government.
After turning around and expanding FCDC's infrastructure teams during the COVID-19 pandemic, John launched Franklin County's first digital services team -- the GX Foundry -- focused on user-centered, digital-first experiences to build trust in government.
Additionally, John:
- Holds multiple certifications including Kanban Management Professional (KMP), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), and Security+
- Is a member of the Chief Digital Service Officers (CDSO) advisory group for the Digital Service Network at Georgetown University’s Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation
- Holds an M.A. in English Education, a double-major B.S. in English and Earth Science, and a minor in Children’s Literature
In his free time John volunteers as a business news host for Voicecorps, central Ohio's reading service for the blind and reading-impaired.
