Desmond Brown

Desmond Brown currently serves as the Principal Assistant Director for the Office of Consumer Populations at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In this role, he works to shape policies and develop strategies and tools to help consumers in the United States gain access to safe and affordable financial products and services.  He leads the Office’s efforts to identify and elevate barriers and financial challenges facing consumers including Traditionally Underserved Consumers, Students and Young Consumers, Older Americans, and Servicemembers and Veterans.  

The Office of Consumer Populations leverages partnerships to create policy and programmatic changes within financial institutions and other organizations to increase consumer protection and improve access to financial services for all consumers.

Brown holds degrees from Southern Connecticut State University and Georgetown University.
