David Smith is a 1996 graduate of King Hall, University of California at Davis Law School. After graduating from law school, David worked at Luce, Forward Hamilton Scripps LLP as a litigator, and then came to the County of San Diego in January 2001. At the County, David worked as an advisory attorney and represented the County in areas including information technology and telecommunications, compliance and privacy, and real estate and development transactions. David served as a Chief Deputy County Counsel and as the Acting County Counsel. In May 2022, David moved from County Counsel to the County Technology Office and now serves as the County’s Chief Information Officer. David received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in History and Political Science.
