Transition Head Specialist, Regional Authorities of the Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Dariusz has worked in regional development for over two decades. Currently, holds the position of the Transition Head Specialist for the Regional Authorities of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. Among his recent assignments has been the European Commission technical assistance project “START” on building framework for a just transition communication strategy development. The strategy will create a sustainable model for transition communication that accounts for mutual learning, increasing awareness and understanding of regional transition among key stakeholders and the general regional public and ensuring that transition communication maintains, complements and leverages the strong involvement of stakeholders in Silesia’s transition process. Since 2022 and through 2023 he was also actively involved in the implementation of the “Regional Observatory of the Transition Process (ROTP)”, a research and awareness initiative of the Silesian Marshal’s Office. The ROPT project’s design was focused on enhancing the management of the region’s socio-economic transformation process. Its main purpose was collecting and disseminating knowledge about the socio-economic processes taking place in the region, effective transformation activities and tools, and innovative technologies supporting the process of diversification towards a green and digital economy. Furthermore, the ROTP aimed to promote professional reorientation in the region by initiating cooperation between local partners from areas undergoing the transition, research and development institutes, and business entities. In addition, it sought to increase the engagement of regional stakeholders and ensure a smooth implementation of the Just Transition Fund. A new, extended edition of the project is scheduled for late 2024.
