About
Brian Willsey is a Supervisory Emergency Management Program Specialist in the Hazard Mitigation Assistance Division, Mitigation Directorate, of FEMA. He has been involved in various aspects of grants implementation with an emphasis on technical feasibility and eligibility of grant projects since coming to FEMA in 2006. Prior to joining FEMA, Brian worked for approximately 20 years as an environmental planner and water resources specialist for the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission and the Montgomery and Prince George’s County Departments of Environmental Protection in suburban Washington, DC. His previous work included technical stormwater management design review, floodplain mapping, local NFIP/CRS coordinator, floodplain management, environmental & hazard mitigation planning, grant writing & administration, and environmental regulatory review. Brian is also a licensed realtor and a certified real estate appraiser in Maryland and Virginia. He has a B.A. in Geography from the State University of New York at Oneonta and an M.P. in Planning from the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia.
