Biography

Ben Duncan was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster as South Carolina's first chief resilience officer. The S.C. Office of Resilience is tasked with developing, implementing, and maintaining the Statewide Resilience Plan with a goal of coordinating statewide resilience and disaster recovery efforts with the federal, state, local and non-governmental entities. Prior to this position, Mr. Duncan worked at the S.C. Disaster Recovery Office from its inception in November of 2015 to its integration into the Office of Resilience in March of 2021. Duncan is a graduate of Benedict College and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of South Carolina. He is a resident of Richland County and is married with two children.
