About Michael Sanderson
Michael Sanderson is the Executive Director of the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo), where he manages general day-to-day operations of the Association, Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and legislative advocacy. Additionally, he is a member of the Local Government Insurance Trust Board of Directors, and co-host and contributor to the Conduit Street Podcast, a weekly roundup of policy and politics across Maryland. Mr. Sanderson has been with MACo since 1994, serving as the Association’s Legislative Director until 2009, at which time moved into the role of Executive Director. Mr. Sanderson worked in legislative analysis for the Maryland Department of Fiscal Services prior to coming to MACo. Mr. Sanderson’s key areas of legislative affairs include business, health and human services, government liability and courts, housing and community development, and public safety and corrections. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Syracuse University and a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
