About Lourdes Tiglao
Lourdes Tiglao is an experienced leader and advisor at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Director of the VA Center for Women Veterans. She oversees the Center's activities, ensuring effective administration of healthcare, benefits, and programs for women Veterans. She also advocates for cultural transformation within VA and the public to recognize and respect the contributions of women Veterans.
Before joining VA, she served as the Global Partnerships Manager at Airbnb's Open Homes program, managing partnerships with nonprofits and aid agencies worldwide. She has a diverse background in the military, federal, and nonprofit sectors, including leadership roles in the US Air Force and the healthcare field. During her military career, she provided critical care as part of the Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT) in various locations globally. She played a key role in launching the Critical Care Medical Attendant Team (CCMAT) in Okinawa, Japan, and facilitated joint operations with Naval personnel.
After leaving the military, she deployed with Team Rubicon for disaster response efforts and later became the Global Strategic Partnerships Officer. She has been actively involved in advocacy, serving on advisory boards and boards focused on improving services for minority Veterans and using the arts to enhance their lives. Lourdes Tiglao has spoken on various topics globally, including nonprofit management, medicine, Veteran reintegration, humanitarian response, and volunteer mobilization.
