About Jacob Hansman
Jason is the Deputy Director, Mental Health Initiatives for Crisis Response/Community Capacity at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health. In this role he is responsible for 16 funded initiatives including developing and deploying NYC’s health only response to 911 mental health calls – B-HEARD. Previously, he worked at the NYC Department of Homeless Services where he was a Senior Advisor working a developing shelter programming, especially for homeless New Yorkers experiencing serious mental illness. Jason began his career in program design and development in the non-profit sector working on mental health programming for returning veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. Jason also served in the Army as a civil affairs sergeant, deploying to Iraq in 2004. Jason received a bachelor’s from the University of Washington and his master’s from NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
