About Dr. Marilyn Griffin, MD, FAPA, DFAACAP

As the Behavioral Health Medical Director of Aetna Better Health® of Illinois, Dr. Marilyn Griffin ensures that members receive clinically appropriate and medically necessary behavioral health services. She is board-certified in child, adolescent and adult Psychiatry.

Prior to joining the Aetna/CVS Health team, Dr. Griffin served as the medical director of Outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center where she oversaw the daily clinical operations and ensured the delivery of comprehensive, culturally competent and evidenced based care. Additionally, she was instrumental in departmental strategic plans, budget planning and hiring of clinical faculty and staff.

During her academic career, Dr. Griffin provided direct patient care in outpatient and inpatient settings and was involved in educating and training medical students, residents and fellows.

Dr. Griffin received her BS in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. She completed a Triple Board Residency Program – residency training in General Pediatrics, General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she served as chief resident.

She is an active member of various professional organizations and has received the honor of Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association
