About Daniel Watson
Daniel Watson serves as the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for the Western Hemisphere Office. His office is responsible for developing and implementing U.S. trade policy with Latin America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Canada.
Mr. Watson previously served as the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for North America (from 2012 to 2020) and the Deputy Chief Negotiator for the U.S. – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA). He has over fifteen years’ experience at USTR in a range of policy settings, including trade relations with Southeast Asia and services trade negotiations at the World Trade Organization.
Mr. Watson was born in California and entered government service with the Department of Homeland Security, where he worked on asylum and refugee issues, as well as trade and employment-based immigration policy. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Berkeley and an MA Degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.
