To support vulnerable populations in Miami-Dade County, the Miami-Dade Public Library System developed and implemented the Community ID Program to identify what services a Community ID could be used for and partnered with a community non-profit to manage the Program to issue the IDs in Miami-Dade County. Providing Community IDs to residents allows individuals to access a wide range of routine and important services in the County. These can include obtaining a library card, visiting loved ones in hospitals, attending government meetings, picking up a child from school, returning to their home after a natural disaster, and many other examples that provide opportunities for residents to participate in essential services and programs.
